JOB DESCRIPTION
The Commodity Buyer selects and develops suppliers and performs quarterly supplier performance reviews.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contract management
- Supply base optimization
- Driver of cost savings / process improvements
- Manages entire supplier production part approval process
- Negotiates pricing with suppliers
- Dispositions defective material
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Metal Forming Experience:
- Minimum three to five years purchasing experience in a metal forming environment
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities
Team Working Skills:
- Ability to interact with other departments
- Must be a team player
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in personal computers with advanced Microsoft Excel skills necessary
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS
- Required: 3-5 years experience in a metal forming environment
- Required: High School diploma or equivalent, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree desirable
